On Steam, if you purchase the Journeyman pack, you will need to buy two upgrades: the Artisan upgrade and the Master upgrade to have all the recipes and the 4 plots.
If you have 3 plots, it is certainly because you owned the Journeyman (one plot) and bought the Master upgrade (2 plots), but not the Artisan pack (which included 1 plot).
As for now, it is possible to buy only the Master upgrade while owning the Journeyman pack (base) without purchasing the Artisan pack. As a consequence, you will have 3 plots, and you won't have the recipes from the Artisan pack (but you can still purchase if you want everything).

Also, along with this caveat is this. On purchase from Steam the information shown just indicates the number of character slots and the number of plots. No where does it specify that the total number of character slots is ACCOUNT wide, meaning that if you purchased the base game and then the Artisan pack you will have four character slots with ONLY 2 plots of land between them all. I fail to see the benefit of having four characters available and only two plots of land and it's vague and misleading as currently shown on the Steam site.
i started with the artisan account and i bought the master and didn't get any land upgrades...
i own 4 plots but everytime i delete 1 from them it disapears and dont let me add it again
From personal experience, don't expect to recover them. I spent almost two weeks in email conversations with the "support" team only to finally have them explain to me that I received my 4 character slots, but I had already claimed my two plots. So I was essentially left with 2 characters that have zero plots of land. Again, what sense does having the additional character slots make if you can't have the plots of land to go with them?
